Hey all. I noticed a wierd sound from my engine under boost at high rpm. It sounded like soemthing was leaking, but was not loud. It was like air was leaking from a connection, or almost like when u drive on wet streets. Hard to describe.

Anyways, upon further examination, I saw my DC was cracked at the right weld where it goes 4 to 2. But it didnt sound like a normal exhuast leak, but I ma sure thta is the cuprit.

So, I am looking at a few options.

I can get a better cast header (i.e. JDM ITR)
weld the current dc, and hope I dont have to deal with it again, or get a KAMI header.

Only thing is, the KAMi price is right, but what people have dealt with on here, I am not so sure it is the best fit for me.

Money is really not a huge object, I just dont want hassles, which my car has started to turn into.

Thanks for your opinions.

Wink

Have the header welded back together and go on with life... it can be done by a competent exhaust shop locally, or worst case, sent back to DC for repair.

My DC 4-into-1 header had a crack at the collector. After talking to tech support and got a RMA#, I sent it back to DC and they shipped me a new replacement under warranty. All they did was to verify the header was not damaged from bottoming out. Pretty painless process.

I've had my DC 4-2-1 ceramic welded so many times at the junction of the 4-1 pair of pipes that the weld is beginning to form a solid mass between the pipes. I was told that the stainless steel version is a bit thicker and doesn't usually crack.

I do have a Kamakazi header lying around but the flange between the upper and lower parts is so thin that it bent where the bolts attach. No gasket would be able to seal this and I think this is a critical flaw of the Kamakazi header since it has to withstand the rocking of the engine at this point.

Isn't the JDM ITR 4-1 header welded? I don't think it's cast piece, and it goes into a 2.5inch collector, not the 2.25inch of the US model. I will probably go with this...

Question

What about getting the two piece DC 4-2-1?

No problems, have had it on 4 years.

I've had my DC Sports 4-2-1 SS 1 piece header on since 2001 and it works flawlessly. No cracks, just that it's dirty as hell

I'll prolly just weld the bish and move on. I dont think I'll gain much by switching headers...

Although I do liek the JDM itr header sleeper appeal (with head shield)

I have a crappy ricer HP Racing chrome header that I've been meaning to get rid of. I have a Comptech exhaust and I was wondering if a Comptech header would be good with the JRSC. I'm not getting the Kami header because its a piece of crap.

The weld on mine is beginning to stick out into the flow. I should have filed it down before putting it back...
